A SHORT GUIDE IN ENGLISH
THE ‘PUBBLICO REGISTRO AUTOMOBILISTICO’ - PRA
Public Vehicle Register
The “Pubblico Registro Automobilistico” (PRA), administered by the AUTOMOBILE CLUB D’ITALIA (ACI), is the office that registers the ownership of vehicles. You can adress to PRA to notify of the events about your vehicles, such as the registration when you buy a new car, the transfer when you sell it, replacing a lost or stolen Registration Certificate, scrapping your vehicle, etc.
In Italy there are 110 provincial offices which offer to citizens the delegated services to AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF ITALY (ACI): Pubblico Registro Automobilistico (Public Vehicle Register) and Vehicle tax. In every provincial bureau there is a Public Relations Office which cares about relations with citizens.
THE SERVICES OF P.R.A. MACERATA
PRA (Public Vehicle Register): We are open on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY from 8,00 AM to 12,00 AM; on TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 8,00 am to 1,00 pm.
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE /CUSTOMER CARE OFFICE ( Ufficio Relazioni con il Pubblico -URP): the Ufficio Relazioni con il Pubblico (URP) cares about relationships with users in order to ensure to them clear information, right of access and trasparency of our work: open from Monday to Friday from 9,00 to 12,00 am.
SIGNATURE AUTHENTICATION: at our office it is possible to have the authentication of signature during the opening hours shown above.
VEHICLE TAX: for further information and assistance about vehicle tax you must adress to the REGIONE (district) in which you live. If you live in province of Macerata, you can adress to REGIONE MARCHE or to the affiliated agencies.
For further information, tax payers can also adress to the AUTOMOBILE CLUB (A.C.) of Macerata (tel. n. 0733 31141) or to its delegations.
A SHORT GUIDE FOR FOREIGN PEOPLE
The papers you must have when you buy a vehicle are:
CERTIFICATO DI PROPRIETA’ (CDP) issued by The Public Vehicle Register (PRA): it is the document that proofs the ownership of a vehicle. You don’t need to bring it with you when you drive your car but you must use it to notify PRA for changing of ownership (buying or selling a car ) scrapping or exporting your vehicle, loosing the ownership of it etc.
CARTA DI CIRCOLAZIONE (CDC) : it is a document issued by MOTORIZZAZIONE CIVILE (MCTC – local Office of Ministry of Transports) where you find information about vehicle and owner. The information it shows includes:
1.vehicle registration number;
2.other technical information about vehicle (the make and model, vehicle identification number, some other details as body and intended use of the vehicle, seating capacity, number of approval, name and adress of the owner,etc.)
REMEMBER:
when you drive a car in Italy, you need to have always with you, together with your driving licence, the CARTA DI CIRCOLAZIONE of the vehicle and the insurance certificate, while the insurance coupon must be shown on your car windshield. Since you are not obliged to have the Vehicle Registration Certificate (CDP) with you while you are driving, it is advisible to leave it at home.
